Offering early cancer screening to even more policyholders

At John Hancock, we believe that our customers should have access to the latest tools and resources that can help them live longer, healthier, better lives. That is why we are excited to share that we are expanding access to Galleri® — a multi-cancer early detection test from GRAIL — to eligible policyholders who purchased a life insurance policy from us before John Hancock Vitality was available.

Beginning this week, eligible policyholders age 50 or older with a policy issued between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2009 will receive a letter from Brooks Tingle, President & CEO of John Hancock, detailing what the Galleri test is and how these policyholders can request the test at no cost. Here is a snapshot of some of the eligibility criteria:

  • Permanent policies greater than $250,000 where the insured is 50 or older
  • Policy issue date between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2009
  • Policy issued in one of the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming

The Galleri test is available to the policy insured (not owner). If the policy owner and insured are different, the owner will receive a notification that the Galleri test was offered to the insured. This week’s mailing is just the first phase of making Galleri accessible to even more of our policyholders, and we will continue to expand this offering over the coming months.

The Galleri test is truly redefining what is possible when it comes to early cancer detection, and we are proud to offer access to cutting-edge advancements like this. For your reference, a sample of the mailing is included below.

Forms update in South Carolina

We’ve recently updated the South Carolina core application and supplemental forms to better align with changes to South Carolina regulations. Specifically, we now have state-specific versions of the Application for Life Insurance (NB5000SC), Survivorship Supplement (NB5211SC) and Term Conversion Application (NB5037SC). If other forms are required for your South Carolina submissions, please use the US generic version (i.e., versions beginning with “NB5…”) of the applicable form.

Please transition to using the South Carolina-specific forms (or US generic versions, where no state-specific option is available) within 30 days of today’s effective date (January 22, 2024). You can find our applications and forms on JHSalesHub.com, through the form vendors we support and in JH eApp (Note: the South Carolina state-specific forms are not yet available in iPipeline, but will automatically transition to the platform in the coming month.)

With their focus turning to planning for 2024, your inforce customers may have questions about their policies. Find the most current details about your book of business on JHSalesHub.com, including newly enhanced inforce policy summaries that provide you with more robust data.

New replacement requirement in Rhode Island

To satisfy Rhode Island Life Insurance Replacement Regulations, the Replacement of Life Insurance or Annuities – Rhode Island form (NB5198RI) is now required on both internal and external replacements. With this change, the form has also been updated to capture some additional details about the replacement.

Please note that there have been no changes to the Replacement of Life Insurance or Annuities – NAIC Model Regulation form (NB5011), and this is still a requirement for all replacements.

The updated Replacement of Life Insurance or Annuities – Rhode Island form (NB5198RI) is effective immediately. Please transition to using it within 30 days of today’s effective date (January 22, 2024). You can find the updated NB5198RI on JHSalesHub.com and through the form vendors we support. The new form will automatically transition to our digital-submission platforms in the coming weeks.
